There are two models of the Axe Fx available, the Standard and the Ultra.

The Axe FX Ultra utilizes a faster processor with more memory than the Standard Axe FX. This allows the unit to run more instances of effects simultaneously. The Ultra also adds an arpeggiator, synth effects, vocoder, looper, multi band compressor, ring modulator, quad chorus, diffuser, resonator, crossover and more complex delay and pitch based effects.

I'm not much of a review person but I'd like to thank my best 2nd best experience so far (apart from playing with the AxeFX Ultra as the moneyshot) in dealing with Independent Music from the pre-ordering stage,to the creditcard purchases,to unfortunate mothernature's obstacles (USA snow storm, brisbane floods) being very professional, responsive and reliable.

Right now this new toy right here makes me feel like a kid again that I don't wanna speak with anyone and just lock myself up with junk food and drinks and explore the sounds of it day and night..

Axe-FX - Believe the Hype!!!

I have had my Axe-FX Ultra and Atomic powered cab for about 3 weeks now. Never have i been so blown away by a piece of gear like I have by the Axe-FX. I have onwed and played a lot of top level gear - Guitars, Amps & pedals - and the Axe-FX is in a league of its own. I have quite happily sold off my boutique pedals and amp because the axe gives me everything i could ever need plus more, without sacrificing anything. It is very easy to use once you have played it with for a while. I had some really sweet clean sounds up & going in an hour. The dirty tones take a bit longer but there are so many possibilities and options that I can confidently say you will be able to get the best tones you have ever had. I wish I could take a month off work just to spend exploring the endless possibilities offered by the axe. It sounds & reacts exactly like a real tube amp, there is nothing digital about the tone of this awesome piece of gear. The Atomic cab sound amazing, it has a huge, wide sound and si the perfect platform to allow the tones of the Axe-FX to shine through. If you are considering going down the Axe-FX path, just do it. I wish I had done it long ago. I feel so liberated form the endless search for great sounding pedals and amps. The Axe is all i will ever need in a rig.
